Abingdon Counselling Services offer a space to talk confidentially to an accredited BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy) counsellor and to view any difficulties you may be experiencing from a different perspective.

Are you finding it hard to concentrate, unable to sleep, feeling overwhelmed with events that are happening to you at this moment?

Life and its challenges can sometimes be too much to handle and we start to feel stressed and anxious. Do you want someone to listen to you without judgement, but with empathy, to support you along your journey?

You may be frequently looking back and re-living events that happened in your past and are worried that they continue to influence your present thoughts, actions and affect your relationships with those around you - whether in the workplace, in your home or family life.

Or you may have reached a crossroads in your life and are wondering which path to take and would like someone beside you when you make that important decision. Sometimes we find ourselves repeating patterns of behaviour that create havoc in our lives and we feel powerless to stop this happening. Or perhaps you are on a journey of self-discovery, growth and personal development and have lost your way and need a skilled helper?

I understand that taking the first step towards counselling is difficult so I offer a free initial consultation to help you decide whether you feel comfortable working with me.

What does counselling offer me?

Counselling offers the space to talk confidentially about your issues and to explore a difficulty you are having, the distress you may be experiencing or perhaps your dissatisfaction with life, or loss of direction and purpose. It offers you a place of safety for making choices and changes.

In our initial session, we will discuss how we will work together, how often we will meet and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions.

I will listen attentively and patiently to enable me to understand your difficulties and work can together to see things more clearly from possibly a different perspective. Together we can explore various aspects of your life and feelings, talking about them freely and openly in a way that is rarely possible with friends or family. Bottled up feelings such as anger, anxiety, grief and embarrassment can become very intense and counselling offers an opportunity to explore them and possibly making them easier to understand. Then we can examine in detail the behaviour or situations which are proving troublesome and to find an area where it would be possible to initiate some change as a start and look at future options that are open to you.

I look forward to hearing from you and working together.
